We’re looking for a talented and ambitious Lead Manufacturing Engineer to work for our client based at their West Midlands facility.

They want to recruit a high calibre and experienced Engineer with a demonstrable background of manufacturing processes and capital equipment procurement, with general electric or electric motor manufacturing experience preferred.

The Role:

In this Lead Manufacturing Engineer role you’ll be primarily responsible for developing advanced manufacturing processes as well as the design of equipment to be used in production lines, and help support the groups global manufacturing strategy around electrification development. The primary focus of this role will be EV gearbox and transmission assembly, final assembly of integrated EV systems, and end of line testing for those assembly processes.

You’ll report to the Plant Director as well as working closely with global programme leaders. You’ll spend the majority of the working week at the company’s West Midlands facility, flexibility around working home part of the week is also available.

In the job you’ll be tasked with the following:

  • Leading process to share and deploy best practices for manufacturing and assembly of electrified systems across global locations
  • Driving innovation and advanced development of manufacturing processes
  • Managing a team of highly competent and specialist Engineers


The Candidate:

The ideal candidate for this Lead Manufacturing Engineer role will have relevant experience of experience in manufacturing processes and capital equipment procurement, with electric motor manufacturing experience preferred.

You’ll also need previous experience of managing teams in both low and high-volume production environments.

Plus, it’s vital that you’ve got experience of areas around assembly, machining and/or welding.

In addition, you’ll need the following:

  • Strong project management skills
  • Previous program launch experience
  • Experience around the development/maintenance of standard manufacturing / quality documentation (PFMEA, Control Plan, BOPY, MSA plan, Functional Safety, etc.) for core processes

The ideal person for the role will be the following:

  • Able to lead the design and development of new and innovative standard bill of processes (SBOP)
  • Able to lead the development of process technologies required to support long term product technology roadmaps in product and advanced engineering for electrification
  • Happy developing capital plans for business cases, strategies & action plans for deployment of manufacturing methods for all core and strategic manufacturing processes
  • Happy to oversee stage gate design reviews for new customer programs and advanced development projects to ensure the design is following DFA/DFM
  • Capable of leading in the advanced development of manufacturing processes for electrified product deployment

The Package:

Basic salary:  Up to £100,000 per annum plus car allowance

Bonus:  A personal and company performance bonus is also available with the role – full details of the bonus scheme will be revealed during the interview process.
