Role: Engineering Manager
Location: Warwickshire site (some work flexibility available but a requirement to be on site in Warwickshire majority of the time) with travel to other engineering sites as required for project requirements.
Salary: circa £60,000 – £75,000 + Benefits
** A background working around rolling stock is a prerequisite requirement for this role **
Our client, a specialist rail engineering company with a growing portfolio of projects across the UK, is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to strengthen their established Project Delivery/Engineering team.
This role is pivotal in supporting the delivery of existing and new projects, playing a key part in driving improvements in maintenance and overhaul to clients’ fleets, with a strong emphasis on systems.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Work with clients to understand ultimate objectives and desired outcomes for each project.
- Lead and deliver specific work packages along with resolutions to arising issues as required, both individually and as part of a team.
- Ensure overall client satisfaction targets are met throughout the project lifecycle.
- Produce mechanical and/or electrical engineering reports to support the project as required.
- Check and approve electrical and/or mechanical engineering drawings and reports produced by others in the team.
- Support the bidding process to deliver proposals, identifying potential risks, devising the approach, specifying clear acceptance criteria, resourcing, and costs.
- Manage the engineering aspects of a project, either with a single person team or as a multi-discipline team across a larger project.
- Act as a mentor to Production Technicians and/or Junior Engineers within the team.
Qualification Requirements:
- Engineering Qualified or Degree is preferred, but demonstration of relevant equivalent experience is also fine.
Expertise and Skills Required:
- Experience on a variety of rolling stock types including EMUs, DMUs, DEMUs, locomotives, and coaching stock.
- Technical experience of project engineering on rolling stock projects of varying complexity.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Fluent technical report writing.
- Good knowledge of the UK rail industry.
- Strong experience/knowledge across various electrical areas such as electrical systems, control systems, propulsion systems, electrical machines, current collection and distribution, protection systems, earthing and bonding, condition monitoring, and passenger information/communication systems.
